West Chester University of Pennsylvania - BS, Chemistry ; University of Delaware - MA, Physical Chemistry; Thomas Jefferson University - BS
Experience
I have experience tutoring and teaching college level chemistry, as well as related subjects like physics and calculus. I graduated with honors from the West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2008 with a BS in chemistry. While at West Chester University, I also worked as a forensic chemist at what is now Atlantic Diagnostic Laboratories, carrying out analysis on blood and urine samples. I also carried out research in biochemistry, and took additional coursework in polymer and organic chemistry. I later went on to the University of Delaware where I led lab courses and discussion in basic and advanced analytical chemistry. The majority of my graduate coursework is in the field of physical chemistry: quantum mechanics and NMR. I have approximately one year of professional tutoring experience, in addition to previous teaching responsibilities, and I can relate and accommodate those with different learning styles. Good communication with students is really, I find, the key to successful tutoring, and in this way weaknesses can be recognized and improved upon through demonstration and instruction.
