I believe a tutor's job is to motivate students. There's nothing more gratifying than when a student reports back and says they got an A on their paper or passed a test they had feared. My goal is to take away the fear and anxiety brought on by any subject, and replace it with confidence, appreciation for a paragraph the student wrote well, or the love of a book. I have a master's in English Curriculum and Instruction, covering grades 5-12. I've learned different teaching methods along the way so I can help each student that I work with find success. Since kids learn best when they are interested, I work to motivate and inspire all the time.In my own life, I've seen how a good teacher can have an enormous impact on a student's life. My teachers cared about me and invested in my education, and I feel that it boosted my critical reading and writing skills. Because of them I have dedicated myself to educating others.I spend much of my free time reading and writing. Tobias Wolff, Dorothy Allison, and Lorrie Moore are some of my favorite authors. I've published short stories of my own too.
